Women In Technology International, Greater Phoenix Chapter

Announces success of Mentoring Conference launching their 2002 initiative "Pairing Women for Success".

Phoenix, May 2, 2002 – Women In Technology International, Greater Phoenix Chapter (WITI, Greater Phoenix Chapter), Arizona´s leading organization for women, today announced a record turnout at their mentoring conference held on April 30th. "There was so much excitement about the event, it sold out ten days in advance. Dr. Lois Zachary, the keynote speaker, provided the group with an inspirational and interactive discussion on how to participate in an effective mentor relationship. The panel discussion revealed that we are all experiencing the same issues and we need to share our experiences. This was the premise for our mentorship program, by supporting each other and learning from our shared experiences, we will all grow and learn," stated Tracy Peck, Regional Director, WITI Greater Phoenix Chapter.

Dr. Zachary discussed the value of mentoring relationships, best practices in mentoring and critical steps in creating an enriching mentorship experience. Marie Sullivan, Executive Director of AWEE (Arizona Women´s Education and Employment, Inc.) and a partner of WITI, stated, "the conference helped hone the process of mentoring and its applications. The information provided sets the framework for performance reviews and coaching, as well as having personal and professional implications".

Dr. Zachary also facilitated a panel of executive women from the technology field, including Joanne Carthey, Chairman of the Board, NetPro Computing, Inc., Trish Gulbranson, President and CEO, NetPro Computing, Inc., Trish Bear, President/CEO I-ology, Inc., and Jeanette K. Harrison, Director of Technology Manufacturing Group, Intel. Panel discussion centered on the importance of mentoring and how mentoring helped make these women successful. Nancy Beeson, TME People Systems Manager, Intel and a sponsor of the WITI mentoring conference comments, "the WITI Mentoring Conference provided a wonderful opportunity for women to learn about the value of mentoring. The panel of women leaders provided role models for mentors and mentees. It was great to hear of the personal experiences that helped each one to reach their goals and to hear how they help others in return."

WITI, Greater Phoenix Chapter would like to thank all of the companies that sponsored this event, including Oracle, lntel, DHL Worldwide Express, KnowledgeNet, Leadership Development Services, LLC, GateWay Community College and KXEM 1010AM Radio.
