Convention Bureau's New Web Site Reflects Dynamics of the Valley For Anyone Thinking of Business or Pleasure in Metro Phoenix
The Valley of the Sun is a colorful, active, vibrant metropolitan area and Scottsdale-based I-ology® has launched a new Web site for the Greater Phoenix Convention & Visitors Bureau that reflects all those elements.
The new site at www.phoenixcvb.com has a look and feel that represents the strong brand established by the bureau.
The new site focuses on the bureau's four primary markets - leisure travelers, meeting planners, travel professionals and bureau members. Easy-to-use database applications allow site visitors to book hotel reservations online and meeting planners to submit an online request for proposals to book a meeting. Site users also can subscribe to various electronic mailings based on their areas of interest. The site opens in English but can also be read in Spanish or German by clicking on a button displaying the country's flag.
The bureau teamed up with I-ology, a full-service Internet consulting and services firm, to place greater emphasis on the organization's destination branding by completely redesigning its Web site, loading the site with a wealth of information and adding interactive elements to enhance visitors' understanding of what makes greater Phoenix a top tourist destination worldwide.
"We are very pleased with the look and feel of our new Web site," said Douglas MacKenzie, director of corporate communications for the bureau. "This is a dynamic site that gives visitors and meeting planners a refreshing glimpse of our desert oasis. Instantaneous information and the site's easy-to-navigate platform will maximize our branding efforts as we tell the world about greater Phoenix."
In addition to the bureau's four target markets, the site also has category areas for golf enthusiasts, accommodations, activities and cultural tourism. All category areas have several buttons where site visitors can click to view a wide variety of information. For example, leisure travelers can read visitor tips and fun facts, order a visitor's kit and learn about things to do. Travel professionals can learn about travel services.
A hotel reservations button on the home page opens a database-driven section where site visitors can select a geographic area of the Valley, key in their accommodation and price requirements and then click on a search button to bring up a list of hotels and resorts that meet their criteria. Or they can simply call up a list of all hotel and resort facilities in that area. They also can view photographs and background information on the hotels.
Visitors can browse photo galleries, send electronic postcards and join mailing lists based on their interests. Quarterly e-newsletters as well as special offers will be sent out to those recipients.
"We are enthusiastic about generating quantified results for the bureau through aggressive online marketing, tracking and analysis," said I-ology president and chief executive officer Patricia "Trish" Bear. "Our goal is to make Phoenix the most successful bureau site on the Web."
