Even though Trish Bear is both American Indian and a woman, it hadn´t been a drawback in her career. It´s just a unique combination, says the president and CEO of I-OLOGY.
Bear founded Scottsdale-based I-OLOGY three years ago, after working for a global Internet service provider and recognizing the impact the Internet would have on the future of the economy. Today, the agency provides services such as Web site development, site hosting and management, marketing the Web site and tracking results.
I-OLOGY grew 300 percent last year, and Bear projects the company will double both revenue and staff this year. She is looking for office space with plans to move the company by mid-2001. Since the company´s inception, all employees have worked from remote locations.
"The most challenging part of growing this business is hiring, because it´s such a competitive industry," Bear said. "Many companies we compete with are funded by venture capital, so they offer lures to prospective employees like stock options plus a salary. It´s hard to compete with these types of lures."
"I´m looking for long-term employees who aren´t just interested in making quick money," she said. "There are a lot of good people here in the Valley, but the kind I´m looking for are just a bit more difficult to find. My employees want both financial reward and the opportunity to help grow a company. They want to work together as a team for a vision."
